Dr. Seung Kim, Director of SDRC, has been elected to the Association of American Physicians

Seung K. Kim, M.D., Ph.D., Professor in Developmental Biology and (by courtesy) in Medicine (Endocrinology Division), Director of the SDRC and of the JDRF Northern California Center of Excellence, has been elected to membership in the Association of American Physicians (AAP). AAP is an honorary national society of physician-scientists who are elected based on their scientific contributions promoting “the advancement of scientific and practical medicine.”

Dr. Kim’s group at Stanford University studies pancreas developmental biology and cancer biology in several models, including fruit flies, pigs, mice and humans. They have innovated methods for studying pancreas biology in these models, and discovered cellular, molecular and genetic mechanisms governing growth, cell fate and development and function of pancreatic endocrine and exocrine cells. Dr. Kim will be officially inducted at the AAP annual meeting in Chicago, Illinois, on April 9, 2021. This year the meeting will be conducted virtually.
